| Chers amis, manger et boire constituent l’un des besoins physiologiques de base communs à tous les vivants dotés d’un corps. Dans nos sociétés occidentales qui bénéficient de la sécurité alimentaire, nous oublions à quel point ce besoin peut être pressant. | Dear friends, eating and drinking are basic physiological needs common to all living beings with a body. In our western societies that enjoy food security, we forget how urgent this need can be. |
| Ce besoin physiologique s’accompagne d’un besoin psychologique : partager la table avec des personnes qui vous apprécient et que vous appréciez, qui vous respectent et que vous respectez, des personnes pour qui vous comptez et qui comptent pour vous. Échanger des propos aimables, des sourires d’amitié, développer ensemble la convivialité – le fait de se comporter en bons convives. | With this physiological need comes a psychological need : to sit at the same table with people who appreciate and appreciate you, who respect you and whom you respect, people for whom you matter and who matter to you. Exchanging kind words, friendly smiles, developing together conviviality - behaving like good guests. |
| L’être humain ne peut pas se passer de nourriture et de boisson, il ne peut pas non plus se passer de reconnaissance et de respect mutuels d’affection partagée, et quoi de mieux qu’une bonne tablée pour cela. On le voit bien quand on mange seul - et je pense ici aux veufs et aux veuves -. | Human beings cannot do without food and drink, nor can they do without mutual recognition, mutual respect, shared affection, and there is nothing good a that beyond a good table. You can verify it when you eat alone - and I am thinking here of widowers and widows. |
| Et je crois qu’il y a un troisième besoin, spirituel celui-là, qui est d’être admis à la table de Dieu, de manger avec Lui et avec tous ceux que nous avons aimés et tant d’autres que nous aimerons aussi et qui nous aimeront. | And I believe that there is a third need, a spiritual one which is to be admitted to the table of God, to eat with Him and with all those we have loved and so many others that we will love and be loved by them. too. |
| Être là, à table, à deviser joyeusement, heureux d’être là, avec un bon et franc sourire, sans ombre ni trouble au visage, le cœur toujours plus dilaté, plus palpitant, plus chaud, incapable de ressentir la moindre pensée de jalousie, de ressentiment, d’orgueil, de cupidité, de luxure. | Being there, sitting at the table, chatting happily, glad to be there, with a good and frank smile, without shadow or confusion in the face, the heart ever more dilated, more pulsating, warmer, unable to feel the slightest thought of jealousy , resentment, pride, greed or lust. |
| Et Dieu qui fait le tour de la table en s’adressant à chaque convive en particulier. Imaginez-vous, quel honneur ! quelle joie ! quel bonheur ! | And God who walks around the table, addressing each guest in particular. Such an honor, such a joy, such happiness ! Can you imagine ! |
| La question n’est pas alors tant de savoir si on est invité à la table divine – nous sommes invités – mais plutôt de se comporter en bon convive, ou plutôt d’être un bon convive car aucun faux semblant ne tient sous le regard de Dieu. | The question then is not so much whether one is invited to the divine table -we are invited - but rather to behave as a good guest, or rather to be a good guest since no false pretense can stand before the gaze of God. |
| Mes amis, c’est maintenant que nous devenons de bons convives à la Table céleste – en participant aujourd’hui [1] à la table où le Christ, prêtre et victime, s’offre lui-même à nous comme le pain et le vin descendus du Ciel. | My friends, it is here and now that we become good hosts at the Heavenly Table - by participating today [2] to the table where Christ, both priest and victim, is offering himself to us as the bread and wine descending frome Heaven. |

Jean 6,51-58 - John 6:51-58
| わたしは、天から降って来た生きたパンである。このパンを食べるならば、その人は永遠に生きる。わたしが与えるパンとは、世を生かすためのわたしの肉のことである。」 | 51 « Je suis le pain vivant qui descend du ciel. Celui qui mangera de ce pain vivra pour l’éternité. Et le pain que je donnerai, c’est ma chair, donnée pour que le monde ait la vie. » | I am the living bread which came down from heaven : if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever : and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. |
| それで、ユダヤ人たちは、「どうしてこの人は自分の肉を我々に食べさせることができるのか」と、互いに激しく議論し始めた。 | 52 Sur quoi, les Juifs se mirent à discuter violemment entre eux : « Comment celui-là peut-il nous donner sa chair à manger ? » | The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat ? . |
| イエスは言われた。「はっきり言っておく。人の子の肉を食べ、その血を飲まなければ、あなたたちの内に命はない。 | 53 Jésus leur dit alors : « En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si vous ne mangez pas la chair du Fils de l’homme et si vous ne buvez pas son sang, vous n’aurez pas en vous la vie. | Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. |
| わたしの肉を食べ、わたしの血を飲む者は、永遠の命を得、わたしはその人を終わりの日に復活させる。 | 54 Celui qui mange ma chair et boit mon sang a la vie éternelle, et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. | Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life ; and I will raise him up at the last day. |
| わたしの肉はまことの食べ物、わたしの血はまことの飲み物だからである。 | 55 Car ma chair est vraie nourriture, et mon sang vraie boisson. | For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. |
| わたしの肉を食べ、わたしの血を飲む者は、いつもわたしの内におり、わたしもまたいつもその人の内にいる。 | 56 Celui qui mange ma chair et boit mon sang demeure en moi et moi en lui. | He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. |
| 生きておられる父がわたしをお遣わしになり、またわたしが父によって生きるように、わたしを食べる者もわたしによって生きる。 | 57 Et comme le Père qui est vivant m’a envoyé et que je vis par le Père, ainsi celui qui me mangera vivra par moi. | As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father : so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. |
| これは天から降って来たパンである。先祖が食べたのに死んでしまったようなものとは違う。このパンを食べる者は永遠に生きる。」 | 58 Tel est le pain qui est descendu du ciel : il est bien différent de celui que vos pères ont mangé ; ils sont morts, eux, mais celui qui mangera du pain que voici vivra pour l’éternité. » | This is that bread which came down from heaven : not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead : he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever |
